Checkered, Yellow, Red– these are just a few words to describe this summer’s upcoming trends. The search for trends began at a boutique in Excelsior and ended in our very own closets.
Primp is a trendy boutique in the small town of Excelsior, Minnesota. This shop has always been the hub of trends. An employee from Primp gave insight on what her personal take was for this upcoming summer, “Florals are really in right now.” They had beautiful and original displays in their sunny windows. “Bright and happy” was used to describe the upcoming trends for summer. “Cheap, Chic, Boutique” is the tagline for this store, and it definitely represents with their beautiful clothes.
Evine Live, an on-air shopping network in Eden Prairie Minnesota showed their upcoming trends for this summer. Kesha Hovdet is a fashion buyer who has been working for Evine studios for six years; she described what she looks for while buying the new trends. She looks a lot at what consumer reports have said in the past year and what people have increased in purchasing for the summer. She’s been seeing a lot of detailing such as embellishments and patchwork but also some revived trends like plaid and pastels. Kesha Hovdet gave a lot of insight on what the trend seekers should be looking for in this seasons upcoming trends.
Courtney, a Junior at Minnetonka High School believes red and checkers is thehot new trend for this upcoming summer. Courtney is a very fashion forward student and loves studying the up and coming trends. She takes in all of the trends she sees in magazines and at school.
Throughout our journey exploring boutiques and touring Evine studios we found that floral patterns, checkers, and pastel colors are in this summer.
